Dance Department Mission

The Baker High School Dance Department strives to empower and inspire students through a unique learning environment. Dance students develop relationships and bonds with their peers through movement exploration and choreography collaboration. The dance classroom provides an outlet for self-expression of unique ideas, inspires creativity, and promotes technical skill development. 
Staff

Bio

Mrs. Williamson is a 2006 graduate of Baker High School where she was a member of the Lady Hornets Volleyball Team, Honeybees Softball Team and the Baker Dance Team. She was a 4-year member of the nationally ranked University of South Alabama Prowlers Dance Team and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management degree in 2010. She began coaching the Baker Dance Team in 2008 and discovered her love for teaching dance was calling her into the public school system. Mrs. Williamson began teaching dance at Baker in 2015 and graduated with a Master of Arts in Dance Education degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2017. 

Her husband is a teacher and coach at Saint Paul's Episcopal School and they have 2 children, Leo and Mattie.

2023 National Champions
Baker Dance Team 2023 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

The Baker Dance Team brought home their first ever National Championship from DTU Nationals in February 2023! They won the title for their Spirit Showdown routine that showcased some of our beloved hometown traditions!

DTU Regionals 2020
Dance Team wins DTU Regional Grand Champion award!

The Baker Dance Team competed at Dance Team Union’s regional competition in Birmingham, AL on Sunday January 26th. They were awarded 3rd place in large varsity hip hop, 1st place in large varsity jazz, and the DTU Regional Grand Champion award!
