Health Sciences Academy
The Health Sciences Academy is a model education system that contributes to meeting the healthcare needs of the community by preparing students for healthcare careers. The Health Science Academy at Baker High School has two separate Pathways: Patient Care Tech and Sports Medicine. The students in both pathways begin their learning in the Foundations of Health Science course which is designed to introduce students to a wide range of health careers and provide instruction in crucial healthcare functions and skills.
Students who wish to pursue their Patient Care Technician certification follow the foundational course with a Patient Care Technician course and conclude with a Senior Project course in Health Science. Students who wish to follow the Sports Medicine pathway complete their three-course sequence with Human Body Systems and Sports Medicine Fundamental.
